Biography

Classically trained from a young age, Michael Day composes intricate folk/roots music with an existential flair, inviting the listener to ask meaningful and perhaps unnerving questions like 'how the heck do we do life?'

Weaving honesty, vulnerability and tongue-in-cheek lyricism with folk storytelling, Day’s music reflects on the beauty and absurdity of being a human while not taking himself too seriously.

Day has previously been a semi-finalist in the 2025 American Songwriter Competition, a semi-finalist in the International Song Contest (ISC) Unsigned Only competition and has received a WAM nomination. In 2024, alongside other Perth artists, he was selected to sing on stage with Boy and Bear, an experience that has reinvigorated his love for songwriting and performing.
